Thin Air Jazz is a 12 piece big band, loosely based on the Maynard Ferguson Big Band of the late 50’s, early 60’s as well as the Gerry Mulligan Concert Jazz Band of the same time period. As with the great big bands that have come before it, Thin Air is made up of musicians that are not only excellent ensemble players but also great jazz soloists. This strength of improvisation in the band keeps every performance fresh and the excitement level high. Whether the band is playing a Swing tune, a Latin tune, a slow blues or a funk tune, the rhythm section provides the perfect foundation for the soloists as well as the full band ensemble sections.

KRCC concerts present the 2nd Annual Newhoma Music & Mountain Festival at the Midland Pavilion in Woodland Park, CO.

Hailing from New Orleans, where Latin and Caribbean music have a long and glorious history of interaction with R&B, blues and jazz, the Iguanas was formed in 1989 by guitarist/accordionist Rod Hodges and Joe Cabral, who alternates between saxophone and a traditional Mexican stringed instrument known as the bajo sexto. The two also share lead vocal duties. Within a few years, the current longtime lineup that includes bassist Rene Coman and drummer Doug Garrison was assembled. The Iguanas emerged as one of the most popular bands in one of the world’s most musical cities. Their sound has been described as combining Chicano rock, R&B, Conjunto and various Latin styles into a deep groove.

Designated Drivers and those that do not want to taste wine may enter for FREE. We use a Wrist Band ID system. NO WRISTBAND, NO WINE!
The festival begins at SODA SPRINGS Park from 11am to 6:00pm (wine tastings tickets go on sale at 11am, ticket sales end at 5:00 pm, tastings end at 6 pm). 25 Colorado wineries will be pouring samples of the wines they produce. Ticket prices are $25.00 in advance, $25 Military, and $30.00 at the gate.
