Big Jim and John return to play for the new friends they've made in southern New Mexico!
Whether Jimmy Thackery headlines a festival in South Dakota or jams for hours in one of numerous blues bars that dot the musical landscape, he'll always unleash an intense volley of rockin' blues guitar guaranteed to leave crowds emotionally spent. His double edged guitar dynamics allow him to fire off tracer missiles, bend a note so it will fit under a limbo bar, run off dive bomber riffs, and find space within the trembling of one stinging note. "I put all my senses on hold and find the zone and follow what's inside. There's an electricity from your mind to your heart to your fingers. You just try and remember to breathe."

Look out Boulder, the boys are back in town!
Alvin Youngblood Hart: The Cosmic American Love Child Of Howlin Wolf and Link Wray! Known as a musician's musician, his praises have been sung by everyone from Bob Dylan to Brit guitar gods Eric Clapton & Mick Taylor. Since his 1996 debut recording, the all-acoustic BIG MAMA'S DOOR, Alvin Youngblood Hart has carried his musical message the world over. A devout follower of the "no barriers" approach laid by veteran performers like Gatemouth Brown and the late great Doug Sahm, Alvin continues to defy the so-called purists.

Valerie June: Hers is a twilight voice, a liquid silk from the heart of Tennessee. It is tailor-made for lullabies and lyric blues; and so, for that matter is Valerie June's spirit. For years June quietly built her brand in Memphis, where magnetic Southern charm and stunning stage presence earned her a feature spot on MTV web series $5 Cover. But no reality show could capture the true reality of this talent: a self-taught guitarist, banjoist and songwriter, June has crafted a sound that draws on the best of southern traditions.

Siblings Danielle, Kris and Nick Schnebelen grew up with the Blues. Their parents were active in the thriving Kansas City Blues scene, playing in local bands and competing in the Kansas City Blues Challenge. Bob and Lisa’s band didn’t make it to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis — but their kids did. When TUF arrived in Memphis for the 2008 IBC they took First Place in the competition and Nick won the Albert King award for best guitarist, it was a sweet victory for the Schnebelen family and for Kansas City itself. TUF has been on a roll ever since, becoming popular repeat headliners at clubs, festivals and cruises around the world and releasing CDs and a DVD on their own label.

The Candye Kane Band was one of the headliners at Blues Under The Bridge 2010. Come see this great band featuring guitarist Laura Chavez!
Raised in a dysfunctional, blue-collar family, Candye became a teenage mother, a pin up cover girl and a punk rock, hillbilly and blues-belting anarchist by the time she was just 21 years old. Ten cds, six record labels, millions of international road miles and countless awards later, Miss Kane has proven to be a true survivor as she scrambled her way to the top of the roots music heap, creating a world renowned reputation that has spanned two decades. http://www.candyekane.com/

Harper & Midwest Kind were the surprise hit this year at the Trinidaddio Blues Festival. Lots of people have been asking us to bring the band to the Crystola. Your wish came true!
An amalgamation of blues, rock, funk, soul, jam and world music, Australian singer/ songwriter "Harper" creates a heady mix of roots jam music through his creative use of the harp, and the haunting drone of the didgeridoo. Borrowing from western and world music, this musical visionary develops a highly original take on the roots genre. Chip Eagle, Publisher for Blues Revue/ Blues Wax, USA recently described Harper as "the most exciting act on the live scene today".

Yarn appeared at this year's MeadowGrass Music Festival. www.yarnmusic.net
REVIEW: Yarn wraps itself around MeadowGrass fans By: Warren Epstein, The Gazette
BLACK FOREST - Yarn will never mean just knitting fodder anymore, not to the 1,500-some music fans at this weekend's MeadowGrass festival at La Foret Conference Center.
A six-piece New York band by that name turned the festival, now in its third year, into a raucus roadhouse on Saturday night, as it exploded with rock 'n' roll, gospel, country, Celtic and more. Most of the songs were originals, but they also did a phenomenal cover of Lou Reed's classic "Walk on the Wild Side."
Yarn played at 6 p.m. Saturday and clearly upstaged the headliner, John Doe, following a pattern that started on Friday, when Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band blew away headliner Hot Buttered Rum.
Jim & John return for another fun filled evening of blues!

Too Slim & The Taildraggers will make their first Colorado Springs performance. If Tim “Too Slim” Langford only played slide he would slither around most other blues guitarists and put a ferocious bite on their pride. However, as the sole six-string slinger, main songster and lead singer of the power trio he founded in 1986 in Seattle, Washington, he is a total force of nature. Leaving musical tracks for others to try and follow with now 16 albums and countless gigs, he remains as untamed and menacing as ever.

Thin Air Jazz is a 12 piece big band, loosely based on the Maynard Ferguson Big Band of the late 50’s, early 60’s as well as the Gerry Mulligan Concert Jazz Band of the same time period. As with the great big bands that have come before it, Thin Air is made up of musicians that are not only excellent ensemble players but also great jazz soloists. This strength of improvisation in the band keeps every performance fresh and the excitement level high. Whether the band is playing a Swing tune, a Latin tune, a slow blues or a funk tune, the rhythm section provides the perfect foundation for the soloists as well as the full band ensemble sections.

Hailing from New Orleans, where Latin and Caribbean music have a long and glorious history of interaction with R&B, blues and jazz, the Iguanas was formed in 1989 by guitarist/accordionist Rod Hodges and Joe Cabral, who alternates between saxophone and a traditional Mexican stringed instrument known as the bajo sexto. The two also share lead vocal duties. Within a few years, the current longtime lineup that includes bassist Rene Coman and drummer Doug Garrison was assembled. The Iguanas emerged as one of the most popular bands in one of the world’s most musical cities. Their sound has been described as combining Chicano rock, R&B, Conjunto and various Latin styles into a deep groove.
